A cyber-attack has hit the major facilities company ISS World, which has half a million employees worldwide.

ISS World, a company providing cleaning, catering, security and other services to companies in the UK and elsewhere has been the victim of a hack that has seen its website down since February 17th. ISS has said that it was a malware attack, but declined to specify any further details on the incident.

The BBC has learned that it was in fact a ransomware attack, and although the company says many of its 500,000 employees don’t use its computers in their daily work, the impact is affecting the whole company.

ISS said that ‘as a precautionary measure’ it had disabled access to its IT services upon noticing the attack, isolating the incident. They also said that ‘certain systems have already been restored’ and services to customers were continuing…
